What it does
Contract approval cycles die in chat. Procurement files an MSA, legal approves on Tuesday, finance forgets about it until Friday, the exec is OOO until next Wednesday — and the deal slips two weeks. This colleague reads the contract type + value + counterparty in Ironclad, looks up the right approval chain in your Notion approvals matrix, DMs each approver in Slack with a one-click approve link, escalates anyone who stalls beyond two business days, then ships the approved contract to DocuSign for signature with the approval ledger attached.
How it works
- Classify. Read the pending contract from Ironclad — type, value bracket, counterparty.
- Build chain. Look up the approvals matrix in Notion and resolve the named approvers per stage.
- Route. DM each approver in Slack with the summary + one-click approve link; escalate stalls > 2 business days.
- Finalize. Build the DocuSign envelope, attach the approval ledger, route for signature.
Setup
- Connect a CLM (Ironclad).
- Connect Notion for the approvals matrix.
- Connect a messaging channel (Slack or Teams).
- Connect DocuSign for signature routing.
- Author the approvals matrix — contract type × value bracket → approver list + SLAs.
Variations
- Add a Slack #legal-approvals channel ledger that posts every step for auditability.
- Skip the legal stage for renewals signed within the last 12 months at the same terms.
- Trigger a 24-hour SLA (instead of 2 business days) for any contract flagged Red by the vendor-risk-brief recipe.
